Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos Announces Transfer After Backup

Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos announced his departure from the Eagles’ football program Thursday night after a drama-filled few days in Chestnut Hill.

“First of all, I want to thank the fans and the entire BC community for being lucky enough to play here for the last two years.” QB posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter). “I truly appreciate all the support you have given me and I will cherish the memories and relationships I have made.

He continued: “Thank you to two sets of great coaches who taught me invaluable lessons on and off the field. Thank you to the men I played with and who are now brothers. More than anything I grew up with, it’s the Faith and the love and the things I’ve been given and given to throughout my time here.” I appreciate every opportunity I have had at the Eagle’s Nest and I will truly cherish these memories forever. Even though it all ends sooner than I wanted, I will trust God and his plan for me on my journey. You will always have a special place, Thomas Castellanos.”

Castellanos left the Eagles’ 37-31 win over Syracuse last Saturday with an injury and was replaced by backup Grayson James. On Tuesday, head coach Bill O’Brien announced that James would continue as BC’s starter and that Castellanos would withdraw from the team.

“Tommy was obviously not thrilled… and decided to leave.” O’Brien spoke on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show on Thursday. “We wish Tommy the best. We care about him very much and wish him the best, but we will rally around Grayson.”
