The White House announced that Biden and Trump will meet in the Oval Office on Wednesday

washington President Joe Biden will host President-elect Donald Trump for the traditional post-election meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday, the White House said Saturday.

Such a meeting is traditional between an outgoing president and a new president and is intended, in part, to mark the beginning of a peaceful transfer of power under America’s democracy.

However, Republican Trump did not invite Democrat Biden to the session after the 2020 elections, in which Trump lost his re-election bid.

Trump ran for president four years later, defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris this week. Trump becomes the first former president to return to power since Grover Cleveland regained the White House in the 1892 election.

The White House said that Biden called Trump last Wednesday, congratulated him and invited him to meet in the Oval Office.

In his speech on Thursday, Biden said he assured Trump that he would “direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition.” This is what the American people deserve.”

Their upcoming meeting is set for 11am
