A Tennessee man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into the sexual assault of a minor

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Tennessee man was reportedly arrested during a 6-month investigation in Bay County.

David Edward Grant was taken into custody after investigators identified him as a suspect in a case involving sexual assault of a minor, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

The official statement stated that in May 2024, BCSO deputies were called to Alaska Circle in response to a domestic call. Deputies said they learned that a 15-year-old victim had been communicating with an adult man via Snapchat and had possibly met and had sexual intercourse in person in Bay County.

Investigators said they identified the man as Grant, who worked in a mobile commercial construction business. They said they confirmed Grant took the boy to a local hotel where they engaged in sexual activity.

BSCO officials said they served and executed more than 10 search warrants and subpoenas and collected a large amount of evidence during the investigation.

Investigators said that on October 31, 2024, Grant was found at a hotel just outside Mobile in Saraland, Alabama, where he worked. They said he was taken into custody and taken to the Mobile County Metro Jail, where he was interviewed by BCSO investigators who obtained a full confession.

We are told that Grant is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County, where he will face charges of Sexual Assault on a Person Over 12 Years of Age, But Under 18 and with Special Circumstances; Traveling to Meet a Minor for Sexual Purposes; and Use of a Child in Sexual Performance.
