Rising Aarogyasri dues leaves pvt hospitals in Telangana under financial crisis

Rakesh added that as stated in the Aarogyasri MoU, refunds were supposed to be processed within 40 days of treatment, but this was not followed, leading to significant delays.

Notably, in August, the government announced the extension of Aarogyasri insurance cover from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and the addition of 163 new procedures, taking the total under the health scheme to 1835.

“If the government plans to make changes to the programme, it needs to communicate with providers about its intentions and how the proposals will be implemented effectively. Network hospitals have not been invited to any discussions and we currently lack clarity on new procedures and improved packages. Given the challenging circumstances we face, these changes are How can we adapt?” Rakesh added.

Aarogyasri officials denied these allegations, stating that dues have been paid monthly since the new government took office.

RV Karnan, director of Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust, told TNIE, “The trust is prioritizing payments, firstly paying the dues of dialysis centres, NIMS, private hospitals and finally government hospitals. Payments have been completed by July, while the remaining payments are ongoing.” Up to ₹50 lakh has been disbursed to private hospitals on a first-in, first-out basis since March. As for the 163 new procedures, we are initially implementing them in government hospitals and NIMS to support government healthcare facilities, later planning to extend them to private hospitals as well. “
