Uttar Pradesh: Groom leaves bride due to delay in food service and marries another girl in Chandauli

In a strange turn of events in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, a groom abandoned his wedding due to alleged shortage of food at the venue and married another woman that night.

The incident took place on December 22 in Hamidpur village, when the groom, identified as Mehtab, came to the bride’s house along with the wedding procession. The bride’s family welcomed the guests warmly, but tensions soon arose when Mehtab’s relatives claimed there was not enough food.

Angered by this situation, the groom and his relatives suddenly canceled the wedding and left the venue.

Surprisingly, Mehtab married another woman, said to be his relative, on the same night. The jilted bride’s family later filed a police complaint, accusing Mehtab’s family of taking 1.60 lakh rupees as dowry before leaving the wedding.

Police intervened and mediated an argument between both parties on 25 December. During the meeting, Mehtab’s family returned the Rs 1.60 lakh they had received as dowry.

The bride’s family later agreed to withdraw the complaint in a written statement that they did not want to take legal action against Mehtab or her family.
