Inspired by Mirzapur web series, UP man slits girlfriend’s throat for talking to her husband, arrested

Two young men were arrested for allegedly murdering a woman by slitting her throat in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Mohit Saini and Omkar Sharma, had been absconding since December 25, when the body of the woman named Anjali was found in the forest area.

Mohit, a first-year B.Com student and football player, has been in a live-in relationship with Anjali for the last two years. However, the police added that when he became convinced that the woman was cheating on him, he decided to eliminate her.

A senior police officer told the press, “A football player killed his girlfriend, whom he learned was married to someone else. He threw the body in a forest area and fled with his friend who helped him in the crime.” he said. Conference on Saturday.

Sharing the details of the case, SP Rural Kunwar Akash Singh said that the accused committed the murder after watching the famous web series Mirzapur and slit his girlfriend’s throat. He found out that Anjali was still in touch with her husband.

During interrogation, Mohit Saini told the police that Anjali had come to live with her husband Saddam as a tenant in his house about two years ago. He said that Anjali’s husband was working in a hotel in Delhi and did not come home for months. This was when he and Anjali became close and entered into a relationship. However, recently she started talking to her husband.

Despite Mohit’s many persuasions, Anjali did not stop talking to her husband. Disappointed, Mohit decided to kill Anjali and after killing her, he decided to marry another girl with his family’s permission.

Mohit also told the police that he decided to kill Anjali by slitting her throat after watching the web series Mirzapur.

Meanwhile, police said that both suspects have been sent to prison and further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
