BNP activist killed in Noakhali

A BNP activist was killed by unidentified persons in Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila today.

Late Kabir Hossain alias Sali Kabir (35) was the son of late Nur Nabi of Sujaitpur village in the upazila.

The incident took place around 13.40 in front of Sujaitpur Purbo Jame Masjid.

According to locals, Kabir was an active member of the local BNP at the ward level. This afternoon, he went to perform Friday prayers at Sujaitpur Purbo Jame Masjid near his home. After performing the prayer, he left the mosque and headed home.

At that time, 5-6 masked attackers came to the front of the mosque in a CNG auto-rickshaw and opened fire on it.

Kabir was shot in the head and fell to the ground. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers cut the vein in his left leg, slit his throat and confirmed his death before escaping.

“On receiving the information, the police visited the scene,” said Md Abdullah-al-Faruq, chief of Noakhali Police.
