Convicted felon arrested for drug, firearm and hunting violations in Morehouse County

BASTROP, La. (KNOE) – A Morehouse County man was arrested on alleged drug, firearm and hunting violations, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

On December 13, LDWF agents received information that a man was trespassing and hunting in Oak Ridge. Agents surveilled the area and observed 45-year-old Christopher Barthol of Bastrop leaving the woods with a rifle and a spotlight at 6:20 p.m.

Agents approached Barthol and learned he was a convicted felon carrying a firearm and had methamphetamine in his possession.

In a press release, LDWF said Barthol allegedly admitted to using his spotlight to hunt illegally at night.

Barthol was arrested and transported to Morehouse County Jail.

He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, hunting deer during illegal hours and failure to tag a harvested deer.
