Pune Shocker: Man Kidnapped, Raped and Strangled 2 Younger Sisters in Drum

In a shocking incident, Pune Police arrested a 54-year-old man for the alleged kidnapping, rape and murder of two minor girls in Pune’s Rajgurunagar area.

The man, identified as Ajay Das, was accused of committing the heinous double crime along with two siblings, aged nine and eight, before escaping, a police official said.

The double crime occurred around noon on Wednesday as the two girls were playing outside their home, but then suddenly ‘disappeared’.

The family, who was watching them, started an intense search in the surrounding area, but could not find any trace of them, and finally filed a complaint with the Khed Police Station in the evening.

Responding immediately, Police Inspector Prabhakar More formed teams to launch a system drive to trace the two missing sisters but could not get any leads.

Late at night, around 22.30, the police and the family examined the two brothers’ room on the upper floors of the apartment and came across a shocking discovery.

The bodies of the two girls were found in Das’ house in a large barrel filled with water, with their heads down and feet up, indicating murder by forced drowning.

As the discovery created a sensation in the area, the case was handed over to a woman Investigating Officer Snehal Raje, while the bodies of the victims were sent to Sassoon Hospital in Pune for post-mortem, officials said.

With a crack of the whip, the Khed Police launched a manhunt for Das, nabbing him from his hideout in a shady hostel in the early hours of the day (December 26) as he packed up and prepared to flee Maharashtra.

The grieving families, together with other relatives, staged a sit-in protest in front of the police station this morning, demanding that the criminal be given the noose and refused to accept the bodies of the two little girls.

Based on initial interrogation, it was found that Das confessed to the double crime and admitted that he had to kill them to cover up the matter secretly, to prevent them from screaming or attracting attention.

Although the accused was arrested by the police, the girls’ relatives gathered at the Rajgurunagar police station and said that they would not seize the bodies until justice was served.

The brutal kidnapping, rape and double murder sparked strong reactions from Nationalist Congress Party (SP) Working President and MLA Rohit R. Pawar, Sanjay Raut and Kishore Tiwari of Shiv Sena (UBT) and local Congress leaders who harshly criticized the ruling Mahayuti. led. for what they called ‘a complete failure on the law and order front’.
