Woman tries to kill husband by starting fire in Valencia apartment and hiding fire extinguishers

A WOMAN has been arrested for arson and attempted murder after starting a fire in a Valencia-area flat aiming to kill her husband.

The target victim, a 51-year-old with reduced mobility, was rescued by two Alaquas Policia Local officers shortly before firefighters arrived.

The man’s 45-year-old wife started the fire at the pier around 03:00 in the morning on Tuesday.

He then went to the police station to report his actions.

“It was me. “Call the fire department because I set the building on fire and I would hurry if I were you,” he said as soon as he entered the station.

Two police officers went to the address as a precaution and evacuated many apartments on the first floor.

They also used megaphones to wake up those living on the upper floors and tell them to stay in their homes.

After saving the woman’s husband, officers and citizens extinguished the fire.

A canister full of gasoline was found on the second floor landing where the couple lived.

All fire extinguishers were removed and stored on the top floor in case residents tried to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured.
