Police searching for 2 suspects in shooting following restaurant fight in South Portland

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) – The South Portland Police Department has identified two suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred after a fight at a restaurant near the Maine Mall.

The argument between two groups broke out inside Kobe Steakhouse at 380 Gorham Road Shortly before 5:15pm on Wednesday, I walked out and moved into the parking lot.

An employee of Kobe Steakhouse told our media partner WMTW that a fight broke out between a group of five people and a group of three people.

The employee said that after the fight spread to the parking lot, he locked the door of the restaurant so that these people could not enter.

Police said a person in one group displayed a gun and threatened people in the other group. The threatened men fled the car park in a vehicle, but the gunman pursued them in a separate vehicle.

When both vehicles reached the intersection of Gorham Road and Western Boulevard, the gunman fired toward the other vehicle, according to police. Police said shots were fired at the victims’ vehicle, but no one was injured. The suspects then fled to West Street.

On Thursday, police said they had probable cause to charge two men in connection with the shooting and were asking for the public’s help in locating them.

Navinn Ean, 21, of Westbrook, is wanted on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, making criminal threats with a dangerous weapon, endangered driving and three counts of violating condition of release.

Jonathan Hanson, 21, of Buxton, is wanted on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal threats with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief and terrorism.

Police said they were also trying to locate Ean’s car, a blue 2018 four-door Dodge Charger with Maine Black Bear license plate SRT74.

Police asked anyone who sees the suspects or the car to not approach them and instead call local law enforcement or 911.
