Alana Armstrong murder investigation: Surveillance footage released after fatal e-bike hit-and-run | UK News

Murder detectives have released CCTV footage of a woman they want to speak to following a fatal hit-and-run involving an e-bike in Derbyshire.

Alana Armstrong, 25, mother of one died at the scene Tuesday evening in the village of Pleasley.

Police said the e-bike was traveling on the back seat when it collided with a dark-coloured 4×4, believed to be a Land Rover Discovery.

While the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver in his 20s was seriously injured and his leg was amputated below the knee.

CCTV footage has been released showing a woman who police believe “has vital information regarding the murder of Alana Armstrong”.

The woman was photographed outside The White Swan pub in Meden Square, Pleasley, just before 8pm.

Police, who launched a murder investigation, said that the collision occurred at around 20:00 in the evening on Batley Lane in the same village. nottinghamshire And Derbyshire.

A 4×4 followed before crashing into one of the two e-bikes, the car then sped off without stopping.

Superintendent Dave Kirby, of Derbyshire Police, said Ms Armstrong, from nearby Tibshelf, was the mother of a six-year-old boy.

“His little boy will never have the chance to see him again, hug him again, spend Christmas with him or celebrate all of these milestones with his extended family,” she said.

Police also revealed the route the vehicle took through the village.

Officers said the Land Rover Discovery was following two electric bikes before the collision.

He then set off from Batley Lane towards Rowthorne Lane and his last known sighting was at this junction, turning right onto the A617 towards New Houghton.

Ch Sup Kirby also issued an appeal for information: “We know that there were two people in the Land Rover Discovery, which was manufactured between 2004 and 2009… a man driving the vehicle and another person in the passenger seat.

“Since Tuesday, a team of detectives has been working non-stop, investigating the scene of Alana’s murder, conducting house-to-house searches and scanning security cameras in the area.

“We have already received a significant amount of information from the public. I know there is more information out there and there are people who know who the person responsible is.”

The two people arrested in connection with the incident were released without charge and were not included in the investigation.
