KANPUR: The body of a 23-year-old Dalit woman, who was missing since Tuesday evening, was found inside a gunny sack in Mainpuri’s Karhal district on Wednesday, as voting was going on for the general election in the constituency.
While the dead girl’s family did not indicate any political aspect of the murder in their written complaint to the police, her father later told media members that his daughter had been killed and that he would vote for the attackers. UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary accused the SP of organizing the crime as the victim had expressed her intention to vote for the saffron party. “SP mobilized its crime cell after being convinced that it had lost the election in the polls,” Chaudhary told reporters in Lucknow. he said.
“The body of a 23-year-old girl was found in Karhal this morning. It was later sent for autopsy. A case was filed against two people by her father. One of them is Prashant Yadav and the other is Mohan Katheria. “The complaint of the victim’s parents is that the suspect, whom they knew, took their daughter to his office on a motorcycle, where they forced her to drink alcohol after adding intoxicating substances, and then sexually assaulted her before strangling her to death,” police said.
The case was registered under section 123 (causing hurt by poison), 70(1) (gang rape), 103(1) (murder) and 3(2)V SC/ST Act of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“Since the victim belongs to a Scheduled Caste, Karhal Sub-District Officer will handle the investigation,” police said.
While talking to the media, the girl’s father stated that Prashant, who was distributing newspapers three days ago, told them to vote for the Samajwadi Party (SP). “My daughter told him that we would vote for the BJP. So they took my daughter, raped her and then killed her,” she said.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said: “We have repeatedly complained to the Election Commission that Samajwadi Party men are threatening rural voters. They showed the same by killing a Dalit girl in Karhal.”
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya shared on social media that Samajwadi Party’s disappointment and helplessness were clearly visible in the by-elections.
“The brutal murder of a Dalit girl in Karhal exposed the SP’s reign of terror and dark actions. Fake voting, deployment of external subversive elements and false accusations against the Election Commission are part of the ‘politics of plunder’ of the SP.” on ‘X’.
