Accident at Market Drayton caused delays; driver taken to hospital after suffering ‘medical incident’ behind the wheel

A woman was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks after the incident in Newtown. Sunday Drayton This caused roads to be closed and traffic to be heavy.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called at 8.35am this morning to reports of an RTC in Newtown, Drayton Bridge, Market Drayton.

“An ambulance attended the scene and attended to the female driver, who was reported to be suffering a medical crisis. She was transported to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks.”

AA’s Traffic News website also reported that there were disruptions in the region.

It said: “Road closure and heavy traffic due to accident in both directions between A529 Phoenix Bank and Dog Kennel Lane at Newtown.”

Fire crews did not use any equipment at the scene.

The incident ended at 9.18 am.
