Tasmanian exam authority apologizes for errors in student exam papers

Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification has been forced to apologize after several errors were found in end-of-year exam papers, including incorrect questions and typos.

At least five of the 24 written tests were flagged as having problems with errors ranging from simple typos to more serious problems such as conflicting numbers on a physics exam.

Students reported that questions were misspelled, leading some to answer questions differently than intended.

One example included a question stating that the points in the diagram were 10 cm apart, while the diagram itself showed that these points were only 7 cm apart.

A TASC spokesman said they understood “how stressful this time of year is” for students taking written exams.

Despite the errors, the official maintained that student results would not be affected.

“We can reassure students and schools that errors are not significant and will not impact student outcomes,” they said.

There are still two days left for the exams.
