Dehradun accident updates: The fact that family members of 6 students who died in a traffic accident in Dehradun have not yet filed a complaint with the police may lead the authorities to take action. Times of India reported.

Police are seeking advice from experts on possible legal steps as the initial investigation suggests the truck driver was not at fault. In the accident, 6 people, 3 women and 3 men, died and 1 person was seriously injured.

Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt police station said they were waiting for complaints from the families before filing a case. report added.

“We have not received any complaints from the family members of the victims that would require a case registration.” TOI Bhatt was quoted as saying.

Dehradun accident: What happened?

Six people died and one person was seriously injured in a violent road accident in Dehradun on Tuesday morning. Police said the accident took place at ONGC Chowk around 1.30 am, when a speeding Innova car crashed into the back of a container truck, leaving the car in a dilapidated state.

According to Circle Officer (City) Neeraj Semwal, the six deceased (three men and three women, all under 25 years of age) died on the spot. The seventh passenger, identified as 25-year-old Siddhesh Agrawal, survived but remains in critical condition at Synergy Hospital.

The initial investigation suggests that the driver of the container truck was not at fault as the speeding multi-purpose vehicle (MUV) crashed into the left rear of the truck, a known blind spot in large vehicles.

“The young owner of the vehicle who was driving the vehicle cannot be held responsible under the current law because he lost his life in the incident. Police are consulting legal experts to explore possible action in the case,” Bhatt said.

Siddhwesh Agrawal remains hospitalized but his condition is stable. He is unable to comment on the incident due to a serious head injury and it may take time for him to speak to investigators.

The accident took place around 1.30 am at ONGC Chowk in Dehradun, when a speeding Innova car collided with the back of a container truck, causing heavy damage to the car.

Five of the victims were from Dehradun and one from Chamba. The group was reportedly driving late at night before the tragic accident.

Police said on Thursday that they are examining CCTV footage which shows the car traveling at normal speed while passing through Rajpur Roads, Saharanpur Chowk, Balliwala and Ballupur.

However, while approaching ONGC junction, the car suddenly accelerated, causing the accident.
