Rajanna Sircilla: A farmer reportedly died by suicide in Sircilla on Thursday, after allegedly killing his wife.

According to local people, Mudam Venkatesham (40), a resident of Shanthinagar in Sircilla town, took his wife Bolla Vasantha (35) to the paddy fields behind the nursing school. There he killed her, then ended her life by consuming pesticide. At first, local people thought the couple had committed suicide by consuming pesticides. However, when blood was seen at the scene, they began to suspect foul play.

Local people said that Venkatesham, suspicious of his wife’s character, killed her. Vasantha was working at an Aadhar centre. Venkatesham, who was not interested in his work, was forcing him to resign from the job. Locals said he killed her because she refused to do so.

The couple had two children; daughter Varshini and Ajith. While Varshini was a second-year intermediate student, Ajith was in Class X.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
