Destruction of Verka underpass: Ludhiana MC for FIR

Taking a tough stand against defacement of public property, the municipal corporation (MC) has suggested filing an FIR against unidentified persons for defacing the Verka underpass on the Southern Ring Road.

In an advisory sent to the station house officer (SHO) of Sarabha Nagar police station, civic body officials recommended filing an FIR in the case under the Punjab Prevention of Destruction of Property Act, 1997. The civic body has demanded strict legal action. against violators.

MC officials stated that some unidentified persons had defaced the Verka underpass walls using derogatory expressions/vulgar language. After the matter came to the notice of the authorities, corrective steps were taken and an FIR was recommended against unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, MC officials strictly warned the residents of the region, stating that similar measures would be taken against damage to public property in the future.

The authorities also appealed to the residents of the area to stop damaging public property and spread awareness about the same for the betterment of the society at large.
