NEW YORK – The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree arrived in New York on Saturday, signaling the start of the holiday season in the Big Apple.

74 meter Norway Spruce It was driven to Manhattan’s Center Plaza to be lifted by a crane. Five miles (about 8 kilometers) of light strips with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED bulbs will be required to wrap the tree, which is 13 meters (43 feet) in diameter. It will be topped with a sparkling Swarovski star crown with 3 million crystals.

Towering conifer tree donated by albert family It was cut up Thursday morning in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and loaded onto a flatbed truck for the 140-mile (225-kilometer) journey. This is the first Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to come from Massachusetts since 1959.

The lighting ceremony is planned to be held on December 4.

When it is finally cut down in January, the tree will be logged and turned into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
