Astoria store owner shot in robbery Friday night – NBC New York

A 40-year-old man working at a cell phone store in Queens was shot three times in what appeared to be an armed robbery Friday evening.

Police said two gunmen fired multiple shots into the Top-in-Town Wireless store on Steinway Avenue in Astoria and then fled on a scooter.

Kunwarjee Singh was inside the store around 6:45 pm when the armed duo took action.

Singh was shot in each leg and torso. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

“I just called my wife, she said she is in surgery right now,” her brother Gurpreet said Friday night.

Gurpreet Singh believes the men are after his brother’s Rolex.

“He’s a tough guy himself, he could have fought them. I know my brother, he doesn’t give in to thieves that easily,” he told News 4.

Police have not announced any arrests.
