Tucson man sentenced to 14 years in prison for child pornography

PHOENIX — A Tucson man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on child pornography charges last week, authorities said.

Duane Lee Johnsen, 55, was convicted in September 2023 of knowingly possessing child pornography. U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

A three-day federal jury trial preceded the criminal’s sentencing.

Johnsen will be required to register as a sex offender after he is released from prison. He will also be sentenced to life probation.

An investigation from Homeland Security Investigations (HSIProsecutors said they identified Johnsen and other suspects who used file-sharing programs to obtain images depicting child sexual abuse.

HSI executed a search warrant at Johnsen’s home in December 2019.

Prosecutors said authorities found an enormous amount of child sexual abuse material, much of it depicting teenage children, on multiple of his computers and digital storage devices.

It had actively searched for this content, downloaded and saved it, and categorized the images.

Not only that, but he was also interested in victimizing children.

Johnsen also had a manual on how to groom children, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors also said authorities found animated comics depicting children being sexually abused.
