Two young people were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms.

Nottinghamshire Police said shortly after 17:45 GMT on Friday, officers received reports of a person believed to be in possession of a weapon on Central Avenue in Hucknall.

It was stated that the searches were carried out by teams on the ground and National Police Air Service (NPAS) fixed wing aircraft.

A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in the Bestwood area at around 6.30pm on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to create fear of violence, driving without insurance and driving an unlawful vehicle. a license.

The 17-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Police teams said that both suspects were released after their procedures at the police station.

Chief Inspector David Mather said: “Following searches no firearm was found and I would like to reassure the public that we do not believe there is a greater threat to the community.”
