Free child support assistance program is held in Detroit on November 9

DETROIT, MI (WXYZ) — The Salvation Army William Booth Legal Aid Clinic, in coordination with the Michigan Third Judicial Circuit and Wayne County Friend of the Court, is holding a Free Child Support Assistance Program on Saturday, November 9, from November 1-4. afternoon

The event will be held at the Wayne County Community College District Northwest Campus, 8200 W. Outer Drive in Detroit. The event is open to anyone with questions regarding a Wayne County child support case. Participants will benefit from the expertise of experienced, volunteer family law attorneys who will provide legal advice on issues such as child support, parenting time and custody issues. Attorneys will also help fill out motion packets.

A brief presentation of the State of Michigan Debt Forgiveness Program for Debt Debtors will be held onsite at 1 p.m., but attendance at this presentation is not required during the three-hour event. Interested parties can also meet with child support specialists who are ready to assist parents in completing the necessary paperwork to participate in this program. If they qualify, they may be eligible to have some or all of their government debt erased. Several public community service organizations, including Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS), Focus: HOPE, Michigan Office of Child Support, Child Center-Fatherhood Initiative, will be on site to offer additional resources and non-legal support to all participants. and the Third Circuit Court Jury Services department.
