Palm Bay police are investigating after several people were injured in a machete attack Thursday night.

Lt. Virginia Kilmer, a spokeswoman for the department, said officers were at 4515 S. Babcock St. He said that he intervened in an empty lot near the Habitat for Humanity at just before 21:00, following the news that three people were injured in the attack. near a homeless camp.

As of Friday morning, no arrests had been made, and detectives and crime scene investigators continued to collect evidence and witness statements. Kilmer said the attack was an isolated incident between people who knew each other and there was no threat to the public.

“Many of the individuals involved in this incident are uncooperative at this time, so we have not gathered sufficient usable information to make an arrest,” Kilmer said.

The exact condition of the victims was unknown Friday morning, but Kilmer said none had life-threatening injuries and all were expected to recover.
