A 21-year-old delivery boy in Pune was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl. While the girl was waiting for delivery alone at home, the defendant asked for water after delivering the package.

PUNE: A delivery boy (21) was arrested on charges of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl after searching for a glass of water at her home in Khandvenagar on Thursday afternoon.
Senior inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Wagholi police said that the girl’s mother, who helps with household chores, called the girl from her workplace on Friday and said she was waiting for a package to be delivered home. He asked his daughter, a Standard V student, to take the money and give Rs100 to the delivery boy.
The delivery man reached their house after a while, handed the package to the girl and took the money. Then he asked for a glass of water.
Rejitwad said that when the girl was about to fetch water, the delivery boy touched her inappropriately. He escaped after setting off the alarm.
The girl later called her mother and told her about the incident and then filed a complaint with the police. An FIR was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
