Alice Guo pleads ‘not guilty’ to corruption in Valenzuela trial

Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who dismissed Bamban, pleaded not guilty to corruption charges before the Valenzuela Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Friday.

According to the Valenzuela Regional Branch, 285 court clerks, Atty. Pascual Lacas Jr., Guo, pleaded not guilty to violation of Republic Act 3019 through a video conference.

“Alice Guo has pleaded not guilty in both cases filed against her…these cases are linked to the Anti-Corruption and Corrupt Practices Act,” he said in an interview.

“He was asked if he understood English well. He was also asked if it would be read in Tagalog, but he preferred it to be read in English because he preferred it to be read in English. “So he pleaded not guilty in both cases,” he later added.

The next hearing will be held on November 22 for the presentation of evidence.

According to the RTC, Guo will no longer be required to appear at the next hearing after waiving his right to present.

In September, Guo posted bail Before the court in the amount of P540,000.

Yet he remains detained at the Pasig City Jail Women’s Dormitory.

Guo, believed to be Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, also faces an aggravated human trafficking case in Pasig court.

A petition for warranty against Guo was also filed in the Manila court and a petition to revoke his birth certificate in the Tarlac court.

He also faces 87 counts of money laundering before the Department of Justice, along with a tax evasion complaint.—VAL/AOL, GMA Integrated News
