NDC Parliamentary Candidate Storms Salt FM in Agogo Over Alleged Insult

Kofi Asamoah, National Democratic Congress Asante Parliamentary Candidate Akim North has attacked Agogo-based Salt FM over alleged defamatory statements made against him.

According to Asamoah, one of the broadcasters at the station, Samuel Acheampong, claimed on air that he had received financial support and resources from current Members of Parliament to fund his campaign.

Citi News reported Asamoah, along with some of his supporters, went to Salt FM on November 7 to confront the presenter in person.

An argument broke out because he was allegedly prevented from entering the studio during the live broadcast.

One post on facebookSalt FM described the incident as an attack on the station.

The station has since lodged a formal complaint with the police, but Asamoah has denied gunmen stormed the station.

He also accused the station’s owner, who is an independent parliamentary candidate in the constituency, of using the platform to tarnish his image.

FM Class facilities were attacked

In a more serious incident, Class FM facilities was attacked by some unidentified attackers on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

The attackers threw stones and Molotov cocktails, which was reflected in the CCTV footage of the incident published on the internet.

Class FM General Manager Abena Yiadom said the incendiary bombs did not cause major fire damage to the property.
