College girl in Odisha gang-raped over several days, scene caught on film

Six persons, including minors, were arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old college student in Odisha’s Cuttack district over several days and videotaping the act, police said on Friday.

A senior police officer said that the woman had lodged a complaint with the Badambadi Police Station in Cuttack, alleging that the accused, including her boyfriend, had gang-raped her.

The college student claimed that she went to a cafe within Purighat Police Station limits in Cuttack during the Dussehra festival to celebrate her birthday and her boyfriend recorded some of their obscene acts on his phone, allegedly with the help of the cafe owner.

The officer said they allegedly blackmailed the woman by showing her intimate videos and raped her several times.

Based on the complaint, it was stated that the woman’s boyfriend, the cafe owner, a boy and three other people were arrested on charges of gang rape.

The officer also added that police have also recovered videos from mobile phones and the handsets have been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhubaneswar for examination.
