A family preparing for their daughter’s marriage has filed a police complaint after being duped of 20 lakh rupees by a man who promised to book a 5-star hotel in Delhi Aerocity for the wedding venue.

The Narang family landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Police Station seeking help. IGI Airport Police registered an FIR under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in this regard.

According to a senior police officer, the Narang family stated in their complaint that they wanted to get their daughter married at JW Marriott in Aerocity. In this regard, they met a man named Amir Singh Arora. Later, a meeting was arranged by a person named Anshu Kapoor.

At the meeting, Arora introduced himself as a partner in a company called Concept and Design and affiliated with JW Marriott. During the meeting, it was discussed that an agreement would be reached with the hotel regarding the event.

The complaint stated that after completion of the negotiations, the Narang family made an online payment of Rs 20 lakh to Arora. The family stated that they were waiting for the payment receipt and Singh’s agreement, but no such urgency was shown.

Finally, after a few months, the family contacted Arora and asked for the contract and receipt. In response, Arora sent an email confirming payment of Rs 20 lakh. This increased their suspicions.

The Narang family then reached out to Marriott. To their surprise, they learned that the hotel had not sent them such a notification. Thereupon, the family went to the police station and filed a complaint. The police started investigating the matter.
