Wolverines’ football season canceled due to sexual conduct investigation

The Lake George-Warrensburg-North Warren-Bolton Wolverines are canceling the remainder of the 2024 football season following an allegation of inappropriate sexual conduct toward a student.

On the evening of October 30, 2024, school district officials were notified of an alleged student incident involving members of the Wolverines Varsity Football team, which consists of players from the Lake George, Warrensburg, and Bolton school districts. Accordingly a letter From each district’s superintendents to school communities, the incident involving sexually inappropriate conduct toward a student occurred on a district bus several weeks ago. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was immediately notified when the allegations emerged, and officers arrived on campus the morning of October 31 to begin the investigation.

Investigators — Amy Langworthy of Warrensburg. Lake George’s John Luthringer and Bolton’s Chad Shippee — who each state that disciplinary action will be taken against the students involved in the incident due to the alleged involvement of multiple student-athletes both directly and indirectly involved in the incident. the district’s code of conduct and athletic conduct.

Following discussions between the districts’ leadership teams, they concluded that the remainder of the 2024 football season should be canceled, effective immediately, to allow law enforcement to continue the criminal investigation.
