Flatwoods man killed in Rapides Parish crash

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (HEART) – A Flatwoods man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Rapides Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on November 3, LSP responded to a report of a crash on Louisiana Highway 8 near Lena.

60-year-old James W. Bennett died in the accident.

According to police, Bennett was traveling on the highway when, for reasons unknown at the time, his vehicle left the roadway and traveled down the ditch embankment, striking a tree.

Bennett was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology samples were taken and sent for analysis.

This accident is still under investigation.
