Authorities stated that the injury marks on his face showed that he was attacked with sharp objects such as an ax and pelted with stones, and that an old wound on his face suggested that he may have fought with another tiger.

“The deceased tiger, identified as T-86, was found dead in Uliyana village of Ranthambore on Sunday afternoon. “About two dozen villagers attacked him with sharp objects such as axes and stones, causing his death on the spot,” he said.

“The tiger was old and probably injured due to a conflict with another tiger. A forest team was following it,” said the officer, adding, “The tiger was not moving” when they noticed it.

The officer said the tiger was found where the 51-year-old man’s body was found on Saturday. “It is possible that the villagers harassed him and he killed one of them in retaliation, or that he killed the man and then the villagers pelted him with stones, resulting in his death. “He was found at the place where the man was killed yesterday,” Kaplan said.

While forest officials have sent a team to remove the tiger’s body from the area, the tiger will be sent for autopsy.

Kotwali SHO Rajveer Singh said on Saturday that deceased Bharat Lal Meena was grazing goats when the tiger attacked him and killed him on the spot.

Singh said that after killing the man, the tiger continued to sit next to the body and fled into the forest when the villagers noticed it and started screaming.

After the incident, anxious villagers blocked the Sawai Madhopur-Kundera road.

Meanwhile, the tiger named T-84 (Arrowhead) was seen sick in Ranthambore and is suspected to be dead. “He is 10 years old and got sick this morning. We suspect he may also be dead. “However, an official team was sent to him to check his health condition and verify the matter,” he said.
