Haryana: An old man was beaten to death after objecting to his neighbors bursting fireworks in Faridabad

A 65-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana’s Faridabad district after he objected to people setting off fireworks in his area.

According to the complaint of the victim’s son Vinod, one of his neighbors and his friends were bursting crackers in Sector 18 of the city late on Diwali night.

When the victim, identified as Bachchan Rai, objected to this, a verbal altercation ensued and the old man was later beaten by the accused, identified as Raju, Dheeraj and Nandu. Rai was immediately taken to the hospital but died from his injuries during treatment.

Vinod and his wife were also attacked by three men who tried to intervene, the complaint said.

The victim’s wife also accused the police of negligence and said that three police teams arrived at the scene upon notice, but instead of taking action, they argued over authority.

Following the incident, a case was filed against the accused in the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and police teams were formed to arrest him.

Speaking on the issue, Faridabad Police public relations officer (PRO) Yashpal Singh said: “A case has been filed against the accused and efforts are on to arrest them. We are also investigating the allegations of negligence on the part of the police. After this, the teams will take necessary measures.”

In another incident, a family bursting fireworks on Diwali in Faridabad’s Ballabhgarh was allegedly attacked with sticks and stones.

The police launched an investigation into the incident and launched an investigation into the incident.
