Milwaukeeans take advantage of final days of early voting

MILWAUKEE — The sounds of blues filled the air in the ’60s^This On one of the final days of early voting in Milwaukee, voters were also seen at the Capitol lining up on the street to cast their ballots.

“There are a ton of people here every day, every day, which is pretty exciting,” Benjamin Gorichanaz said.

Benjamin Gorichanaz and Kris Schreiber wanted to make sure they got through the rush by joining the line Saturday afternoon ahead of Election Day.

“I think when you’re in a volatile state, you have an obligation to vote. This is very important, especially if you live in a purple state like we do,” Schreiber said.

Abe Patrick voted a month ago but wanted to make sure everyone in his community had the chance to use their voice.

“I came out because I knew the needs. There were so many young, young black people here. It was great because I remember my grandmother couldn’t vote, and I’ve been voting ever since I started voting,” Patrick said.

Patrick even brought chairs to give his seniors a chance to sit while they waited.

“I brought them here yesterday and a lot of them hugged me and thanked me because they had to line up like that. It’s just something I do,” Patrick said.

Saturday is the last day all early voting centers are open in Milwaukee, although five will continue to welcome voters through Sunday.
