Police kill two CIT suspects in shootout in Gauteng

They were shot dead on R59 on Thursday.

Police spokesman Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the suspects were allegedly on their way to commit robbery from the sidewalk in Sedibeng.

He said one police officer was injured.

“The suspects were captured and when approached they began shooting at police, who retaliated, fatally shooting two of the suspects and one fled the scene on foot.

“One firearm was seized at the scene.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by the suspects was reported stolen in Alexandra in October 2024,” he said.
