Manchester City eye Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala moves and Guardiola plans major squad revamp

Manchester City are making plans for the future despite their ongoing legal battle with the Premier League and have identified Florian Wirtz as their top transfer target, according to TEAMtalk sources.

The Cityzens are currently in limbo as they await the verdict on allegations they breached the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) 115 times.

If found guilty Man City‘s possible penalties range from fines, transfer bans, points deductions and even expulsion from the top-flight league.

The club constantly maintained its innocence and continued to plan the transfer business as usual. wirtz on the cards.

Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that Man City’s recruitment chiefs see Wirtz as someone who would fit perfectly into Pep Guardiola’s system.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been key to Bayer Leverkusen’s recent success and is regarded as one of the best young talents in football.

We understand that Leverkusen are aware that they may lose Wirtz next summer due to increased interest in him, but will demand a large fee for his services.

Man City eye Wirtz, Musiala – sources

Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that a bid of at least £90 million would be required for Leverkusen to even consider selling Wirtz next summer. It has a contract until 2027, so all authority in the negotiations is in the hands of the German side.

There is no doubt that Manchester City are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on Wirtz’s situation. The Premier League champions have contacted the player’s agents to gauge his interest in a possible move to the Etihad.

However, Wirtz is not alone on Man City’s transfer list. TEAMtalk has confirmed that Bayern Munich superstar Jamal Musiala is also liked by the club.

We explained this before Guardiola is a big fan of Musiala and Man City regularly sent scouts to watch the attacking midfielder in action.

Musiala, who started his career at Chelsea’s academy, may be harder to sign than Wirtz, but Bayern Munich clearly know they will plan their team around him and keep him as a star player for years to come.

Musiala and Wirtz have both excelled at Euro 2024 and shown why the German national team is so excited to have them in their ranks.

Chelsea are also following Musiala closely. They have a long-standing relationship with the 21-year-old and have strong friendships with some of the players at Stamford Bridge.

However, Musiala will be much more expensive than Wirtz and it is unclear whether any side will be able to foot that bill due to the Premier League’s strict PSR restrictions.

Man City will not be able to sign either player and Wirtz is more likely to be added to Man City as he demands a lower transfer fee.

Manchester City transfer news: Is Ruben Dias leaving? / The new goalkeeper set his sights on

Meanwhile, sources suggest that some of Manchester City’s important stars may leave the team to make way for a new era at the club, and one of the names who left is defender Ruben Dias.

As we exclusively revealed on Monday, the defender is attracting huge interest from clubs across the Premier League and Europe.

We know that Chelsea are among the clubs following Dias’ situation closely. If he becomes available, he may be inclined to make a daring move.

The Blues see the 27-year-old footballer’s vast experience as an invaluable addition to their young squad and aim to become serial cup contenders once again.

However, Dias is contracted until 2027 and Manchester City plan to demand a huge fee for his services; This is much higher than the £65 million they paid to sign him in 2020.

In other news, Man City are reportedly exploring the market for a new goalkeeper due to the uncertainty surrounding Ederson, who remains a key target for Saudi Pro League clubs.

It was claimed that Guardiola identified Porto’s defender Diogo Costa as a potential replacement for Ederson.

Around €45 million (£37.5 million/$48.6 million) would reportedly be enough to sign Costa, but Barcelona are set to compete with Man City for his signature.
