Three dangerous criminals arrested in separate incidents over two days in Chico

The Chico Police Department (CPD) helped capture three dangerous fugitives hiding in Chico over the past two days.

On Friday, a CPD officer witnessed a vehicle marked in the California Vehicle Database, police said. It was stated that the car belonged to a man wanted in Los Angeles for possession of a fully automatic rifle. The officer located the vehicle traveling eastbound on State Highway 32 toward Bruce Road. CPD said due to traffic, the officer was unable to get behind the suspect vehicle and lost sight of it.

CPD said patrol officers were able to relocate the vehicle, which was parked at an address off Sierra Sunrise Terrace. Officers contacted the Chico Police Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) and the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) to assist in locating and arresting the dangerous offender.

The wanted criminal, identified as 21-year-old Azhoni Meeks-Davenpor, was arrested by CPD with the assistance of intelligence received from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Additionally, CPD said their department received a call from an Oregon State Patrol Detective later that same day. The detective advised CPD that one or two wanted criminals involved in armed home invasions, robberies, and kidnappings in west-central Oregon may be in the Chico area. CPD said the suspects were likely driving a U-Haul truck.

On Saturday, police spotted the U-Haul and issued a heavy traffic ticket. CPD said both suspects from Oregon were located and arrested.

Further investigation led to evidence linking two suspects to the crime. CPD identified the suspects as 25-year-old Dwayne Connell and 27-year-old Aldane Hamilton, both Jamaicans.
