Some artists on Bad Boy accused Diddy of getting them into unfair record deals. One rapper was so fed up that he confronted Diddy during an interview.

Rapper Mase was so angry that he confronted Diddy during a radio interview and asked to be released from his contract. She was shocked when Diddy complied, noting that she rarely saw him do good things.

Bad Boy artist Mase immediately sought to terminate his contract with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

While Diddy was being interviewed on an Atlanta radio station, Mase showed up unannounced and demanded that his contract be terminated. During the break, they moved away from the microphones where Diddy signed the document.

“Be clear (Mase) has the freedom to do whatever he wants to do,” Diddy said when he came back on air. XXL Magazine. “People felt like in our case I might have stopped him or whatever, he could have done whatever he wanted to do. I’m trying to make sure everyone is clear. If you want those Mase verses, hurry. He should lubricate his tongue though, he’s a bad negotiator so you better come up with that concession.

Mase couldn’t believe things were going well. He wasn’t used to it. Diddy being accommodatingThat’s probably why she confronted him on air.

“It took me 10 years to get this paperwork here,” he said. “I had to put it on UPS; I don’t want anything to spill on it. I don’t even know what to put forward anymore. My god. We’re good… I got my official paperwork here from Puff Daddy. It was love. So I guess we don’t have any problems. I don’t even know how to get this. “I’m not used to Puff doing good things.”

Another Bad Boy artist says Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs doesn’t give artists fair deals

Mase wasn’t the only Bad Boy artist having trouble with his contract. Rapper Mark Curry claimed that Diddy is the only person at his record label who makes money from music.

“No one has achieved success through a record label except Puff,” Curry wrote in his book. Dancing with the Devil: How Puff Burned Hip-Hop’s Bad Boys (via lounge)

Curry believed Diddy had the Notorious BIG locked up to an unfair contract additionally.

“I was in the same spot as Biggie when he signed Bad Boy,” Curry wrote. “For example, Biggie walked away with only $25,000 after signing the contracts Puff forced on him. To keep people from finding out how broke Biggie was when he was killed, Puff announced he would give several million dollars to the fallen star’s family.”

Artists received broadcast rights in 2023

Diddy gave up control of publishing rights to Bad Boy artists in 2023. The assets were reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Biggie acquired the publishing rights posthumously, but artists such as Mase also benefited.
