Police on the hunt for stray XL Bully who killed Staffordshire bull terrier and attacked owner at beauty spot

Police are on the hunt for a rambunctious and ‘out of control’ XL bully who killed a Staffordshire bull terrier and attacked his owner at a beauty spot.

The large dog was walking along the Seat Naze hill path in Rossendale, Waterfoot, in Greater Manchester, where it spotted its victims.

Staffordshire bull terrier Alfie unfortunately died as a result of the injuries he received with his female dog.Additionally, the injury to his hand is not thought to be serious.

Lancashire Police said the owner of the XL bully left the scene with his dog following the attack on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were called at 2.38pm that day.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Rossendale on Saturday on suspicion of allowing a dog to run dangerously out of control. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

A Staffordshire bull terrier and his female owner were attacked by a large ‘out of control’ dog on the Seat Naze walk on Burnely Road East in Waterfoot, Rossendale.

Lancashire Police said it was trying to find the XL bully following the ‘truly distressing incident’.

A police spokesman added: ‘Efforts to find the XL bully continue. ‘We would appeal to anyone with information about his whereabouts or who witnessed Wednesday’s incident to contact police.’

Anyone who sees the dog is asked to call 999 immediately.
