Three women who were brutally murdered and their bodies disposed of separately were buried at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi on Saturday.

This comes as detectives step up their search for more suspects in the murders of Waris Dahabo Daud, his daughter Nusayba Abdi Mohammed and his nephew. Emine Abdirashid, He lived in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Police said preliminary investigations showed that the three men were killed in a dispute over their kidnappers’ ransom demands.

Investigations revealed that the three murdered women were attacked by people they knew because they did not pay the demanded ransom and were identified while in captivity.

Police are speaking to at least four people about the murders.

They include a suspect in the murder.

A suspect who survived the murder told police that the killers demanded ransom from the women, but turned violent when they realized the victims had identified them.

“When they realized that the women had identified them, they acted brutally and decided to eliminate them and dispose of their bodies,” said a police officer, adding that they were after known suspects.

They had demanded Sh1 million each for the release of the women.

On October 21, Dahabo Daud Said (38), Amina Abdirashid Dahir (22) and Nusayba Abdi Muhammed (13) disappeared before their bodies were found with stab wounds in different places at around 6 am on October 22, 2024.

The bodies of Nusayba, Amina and Dahabo were found at Bahati in Makadara, 6th Avenue Parklands and Khyumbi in Machakos respectively, with Dohabo’s hands cut off.

Police said two human hands were found on Five Star Road in South C on October 23.

In the autopsy examination carried out on the women’s bodies on Friday, October 25, it was seen that Daud Said’s neck was cut, his hands were cut off and he was tortured.

The government’s chief pathologist, Johansen Oduor, said Amina Abdirashid Dahir died as a result of stabbing.

“The stab wound went to the heart. We believe he died as a result of the stabbing,” Oduor said.

He added that Nusayba Abdi Muhammed died by drowning.

The pathologist took samples from the victims for further analysis.

The exercise was held at the City Mortuary on Friday before the funeral at Langata Cemetery on Saturday.

Police said they have a suspect in custody in connection with the murder.

The suspect was caught while trying to escape.

He is believed to be the one who received another ransom of Sh1 million from a woman who survived the murder.

Detectives are interrogating a woman who claims she was kidnapped and detained with three murdered women.

The woman claimed that she, too, was kidnapped by the murderers of the three murdered women.

He claims that he, along with the three victims, was kidnapped and kept in the same room where they were locked for hours.

He told police he heard the killers claiming that the murdered women had identified themselves and that it was dangerous and would expose them.

It was then decided to kill them.

According to the woman, the kidnappers demanded a ransom to release them and her family managed to collect Sh1 million, which was deposited into a bank account in Ethiopia.

Detectives have seized a motor vehicle believed to have been used in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of three family members in Nairobi.

A driver who picked her up abandoned her near Wakulima Market in Nairobi and fled.

He was tracked to Ijara on the Kenya-Somalia border and his capture is ongoing.

Police said the lounge car was found at Wakulima Market in Kamukunji, Nairobi.

After the murder of three people, the suspect is suspected of dumping their bodies in different places.
