17-year-old girl jumped to her death after failing IIT-JEE exam in Jamia Nagar

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl, who was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), allegedly died by suicide after jumping from a residential building in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar. “At 11.25 am yesterday, Jamia Nagar Police Station received a PCR call regarding a 17-year-old girl jumping from the roof of the 7th floor of a building in Okhla main market. After completing 12th grade, he was preparing for JEE. He left a suicide note, citing work pressure and failure to meet expectations as justification. Delhi Police said that proceedings under 194 BNSS are ongoing.

A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the heartbreaking moment when the girl fell to the ground while a nearby man was on the phone. As soon as he fell to the ground, people around him rushed to help him.

Local residents, visibly distressed by the tragedy, reported that the girl was struggling emotionally over her failed attempt to clear the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

The incident took place four days after a second-year master’s student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, allegedly died by suicide late on Tuesday night. According to police, the student had visited the IIT hospital earlier that day and was undergoing psychiatric treatment.
