If season 2 continued We assume it will be a continuation of the explosive events of the finale, where the young people of Danbury continue their fight against the flesh-eating old men..

One thing’s for sure: if season 2 were to continue, then we’re sure it would be just as bloody and gory.

Speaking about the series, creator, writer and director Ben Wheatley said: “In this world of horror but also a disaster movie, it is the story of the characters and how they deal with the impending disaster occurring outside the town of Dambury.

“There are echoes of Covid, echoes of the classic zombie genre, The Crazies and Threads and so much more.

“I was excited to structure it around multiple generations so there were different perspectives to interact with in the story.”

Also touching on how central Covid-19 is to the concept of Generation Z, Wheatley said: “We were almost forming Generation Z in 2019, then when Covid emerged, it was necessary to rethink; it was no longer a prescient science fiction, but a situation in which we all experienced it.” It turned into a period. This was very strange.

“It was put aside for a while, then I did The Meg 2 and it came back into focus. About a year into the lockdown, we started to think it was more relevant than before…”

Generation Z airs on Channel 4 from 21.00 on Sunday, October 27.
