Two Suspects Jailed in East Texas for Theft at Dollar General

Last week there were two people arrested for shoplifting at multiple locations. Dollar General places within Smith CountyTexas.

Details of Dollar General Theft Cases in Smith County, Texas

Accordingly KETKPolice officers in Whitehouse were responding to a report of a burglary around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11.he2024. The call came from the Dollar General on Highway 110, but at that point the suspects had already gotten into their black pickup truck and sped away.

Just 20 minutes later, another call was placed to law enforcement from FM 2493 in Flint regarding a theft at Dollar General.

Officers Determined These Two Cases Are Linked

The details of both cases were very similar. A male and a female suspect would both enter the Dollar General and fill a grocery store basket full of products and leave the store without paying.

There have been similar thefts in recent weeks, so Smith County law enforcement acted quickly and identified a suspicious vehicle and license plate from cameras in the stores.

Vehicle Found in Tyler with Multiple Suspects

The vehicle in question in these thefts was located in Tyler approximately an hour after the initial call from Whitehouse. While there were 3 suspects in the vehicle, 2 of them were arrested. These people were identified as 56-year-old Nigel Harris and 58-year-old Aineda Johnson.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance. Harris was also charged with violating probation, so her bond was set at $150,000. Johnson is being held on a $30,000 bond.

More charges are expected for both suspects as investigators continue to work on the case. Both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
