Canadian football: Atletico Ottawa will play quarter-final play-off match on Sunday

Atlético Ottawa will have its first chance to lift the North Star trophy on Sunday.

The team will face York United FC at home in the Canadian Premier League play-off quarter-finals. Match time 13:00 at TD Place Stadium.

This will be Atletico’s last home game of the season.

“If you live in Ottawa and want to see one of your teams in the playoffs, this is it,” Atlético Ottawa spokesman Jon Siden said on CTV Morning Live.

“So if you love the playoffs and sports, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be here.”

Siden says he expects an “infectious” crowd and “world-class” football.

“We have an incredible group of fans; they bring noise, they bring drums, they stand and sing throughout the game,” he said.

This is also the last home game for the Atletico captain and Gatineau native. Maxim Tissot After a 12-year career, six of which were in Ottawa.

Tissot was honored by the team in the final regular season game last week.

“We have incredible talent. We have a great team, and as our retired captain Max Tissot from Gatineau said: ‘We’re a team built for the playoffs,'” Siden said.

The winner will advance to the semi-finals against Forge FC or Cavalry FC on 2 or 3 November.

The CPL final will be played on November 9.

Atletico finished the regular season in third place in the CPL standings with 11 wins, 11 draws and 6 losses.

On Sunday, the weather is expected to be sunny but cold and temperatures are expected to be in single digits.
