18-year-old shot after robbery interrupted; 3 suspects wanted: authorities

It was a terrifying night of violence for an 18-year-old man on Oxford Circle after an apparent robbery attempt turned into a shooting.

Authorities said the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 1400 block of Benner Street.

During the investigation into the events, police said that three men entered the victim’s house by kicking the back door from the alley behind the house. Two of those suspects then stepped back into the alley, where the victim was seen approaching.

One of the two suspects in the alley drew his gun, shot the victim in the stomach, and ran away. The third suspect followed suit and all three were seen heading west in the alley.

The victim was taken by his mother to Jeanes Hospital, where police met them. The victim was later transported to Temple University Hospital for further treatment.

The Philadelphia Police Shooting Investigation Group is leading the case. Anyone with any information is asked to contact them at 215-686-8270 or the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477). All tips may remain anonymous.
