‘Arcane’ Creator Says Season 2 Is Inspired by Fractured Politics

Christian Linke, creator of Netflix, said:MysteriousHe admits that he was inspired by the US two-party political system and their inability to communicate with each other.

“Arcane” takes place in a utopian city called Piltover and the barren city called Zaun that lies beneath it. Its citizens live off the scraps of wealthy Piltover residents oppressed by the police force. As we try to bridge this gap or limit some kind of peace through partnership between these two cities, an all-out war ensues, or so it will in Season 2.

When asked at the season two premiere in Los Angeles whether the series was inspired by real life or specific historical events, Linke said, “If you’re asking me if we’re inspired by two sides of a nation, and at a certain point we’re even talking to each other, yes.”

He went on to explain that this reality has been made worse by the election, saying, “it just got worse.” “When we started this, it was like, ‘Yeah, there’s a certain inability to coexist.’ But I mean the election is not far away. And the situation got worse. So I think it’s definitely a mirror at the end of the day.

Writer Amanda Overton also shared her thoughts on finding inspiration in today’s issues: “We’ve always felt like this widening of the wealth gap on the left throughout our lives, and we felt like we could do that in a really inspiring, creative and fun way.”

The League of Legends-inspired animated narrative series debuted on Netflix in 2021 and became the number one series in the world. 52 countries. The first of three episodes of the second and final season will air on November 9. The next act will be released on November 16, and the last act will be released on November 23.
