The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, launched in India this week, has set a new safety standard by scoring 5 stars for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child safety in Global NCAP crash tests.

This makes the Dzire the first Maruti Suzuki model to achieve the top 5-star safety rating.

Equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and pedestrian protection as standard, Dzire offers impressive safety features. Global NCAP tests evaluate frontal and side impacts, as well as vehicle stability and pedestrian safety.

Praising the new Dzire, David Ward, Chief Executive Officer of Towards Zero Foundation, said: “The five-star rating of the new Dzire sets a significant safety standard for Maruti Suzuki compared to the previous version of this model and other versions of Maruti we have tested. Global NCAP welcomes this landmark voluntary test result.”

The new Dzire, voluntarily offered for testing by Maruti Suzuki, scored high in terms of stability with its sturdy structure and footwell area that can withstand more impacts. Frontal crash testing showed marginal protection for the driver’s chest, but side and direct impact tests showed excellent protection for adult passengers.

For the child’s safety, the 18-month-old dummy received full protection, and the 3-year-old dummy exhibited good head and chest protection; however, neck safety can be improved with a rear-facing child restraint system (CRS).

With its substandard airbags, ESC and pedestrian safety features, the Dzire sets a new standard in safety in its segment and paves the way for safer cars for Indian consumers.
