South actor Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva is all set to hit the theaters on November 14. The makers recently held a pre-release event in Hyderabad where celebrity guests like SS Rajamouli, Vishwak Sen, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Allu Aravind graced the occasion. One of the highlights of the event was when director Rajamouli revealed that one of Suriya’s blockbusters had inspired him to make pan-India films.

At the event, where Rajamouli was invited as a special guest, the organizers played a video explaining how the director is riding the pan-India trend, which includes his popular film Baahubali. Following this, the filmmaker said: “They just released an AV that started the pan-India trend. But let me tell you this honestly. Suriya is the inspiration behind my desire to expand Telugu cinema beyond AP and Telangana.”

He also recalled the promotional events of Suriya’s film Ghajini, which released in 2005, and recalled how the actor connected with the audience in the Telugu states and made them feel like he was one of them. “I often tell my producers and actors that we need to connect with audiences in the states the same way. So Suriya, you are my inspiration for the pan-Indian film Baahubali,” the director added.

Impressed by his words, the Soorarai Pottru actor went on stage and hugged the producer. Rajamouli’s Baahubali starred Prabhas, Rana Dagubatti, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan and Tamannah Bhatia in lead roles. The film, released in 2015, is among the highest-grossing Indian films worldwide.

The RRR director also stated that he was supposed to collaborate with the Jai Bhim actor in the past but things did not work out. “Suriya said he regretted not working with me at an event, but I am the one who should regret not having the opportunity to work with him,” said Rajamouli. He also praised the Kaakha Kaakha actor for choosing films with captivating stories rather than focusing on focus. only at the face value of the filmmaker.

On the work front, Suriya is busy promoting his new film Kanguva starring Disha Patani and Bobby Deol. The film is directed by Shiva. He also has an untitled film starring director Karthik Subbaraj, known for his films such as Jigarthanda, Petta and Mahaan. Rajamouli, on the other hand, will soon start shooting for his next project with South superstar Mahesh Babu. No further details about the film have been revealed yet.
