In 2012, Thompson was sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple home invasions that turned violent on the southeast side.

“He beat residents. He beat women. He put a gun to their heads, it was brave and brazen,” said Andy Kahan of Crime Stoppers.

In March 2022, Judge Hill sentenced Thompson to deferred probation after pleading guilty to gun possession.

“Within three months he will be charged again with more violent crimes,” Kahan said. “Another aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which also allegedly struck the victim.”

Rather than revoking his parole and sending Thompson back to prison, Judge Josh Hill set bail at just $70,000.

“Given his history of violence, he gets off on a really low bond,” Kahan said.

Judge Hill’s decision to grant Thompson his freedom may have cost 22-year-old Keambra Bibbs her life.

He knew Thompson, according to court documents.

On Sept. 4, police said Thompson shot Keambra multiple times and then dumped his body in the parking lot of the Medical Center office building.

Get this, Thompson apparently wanted to stay in Judge Josh Hill’s good graces.

He appeared in court on September 17, 13 days after he allegedly killed Keambra.

Thompson was charged with murder on October 31.

He surrendered on Tuesday.

“It was a tragedy. But it was very preventable because you caught him over and over again but we keep sending him back,” Kahan said. “We now have a young lady dead.”
