Louisiana-Monroe assistant Cameron Blankenship apologized after courtside incident with player

Louisiana-Monroe offensive line coach Cameron Blankenship issued an apology on social media following the incident. heated sideline interaction with one of his players during Saturday’s loss to Marshall.

“I want to sincerely apologize for my behavior during (Saturday’s) game,” Blankenship wrote. “I recognize that my physical contact with a player was inappropriate and I take full responsibility for it. I value the trust of our players and there is no excuse for my actions. I am committed to learning from this incident. I appreciate the support of our team and am committed to creating a positive and respectful environment for everyone moving forward.”

Blankenship was seen on camera yelling at offensive lineman Drew Hutchinson during the game. Blankenship chased after Hutchinson and pushed him aside while continuing to berate him, eventually having to be carried away by another player.

Louisiana-Monroe released a statement Stating that once the incident is addressed, disciplinary action will be taken against Blankenship.

“This behavior is unacceptable and this is not the way ULM football does business,” the statement read in part.

Louisiana-Monroe fell to 5-3 (3-2 Sun Belt) with a loss to Marshall in its first season under Bryant Vincent. He returns to action in Week 11 against Texas State.
